| 3-9 creative industries office
and studio and workshop spaces TAO recognises the demand for independent space for practitioners in the arts, and will be offering office, workshop and private rooms to rent, in the upper floors of this former police station, as studios and offices and workshop space for creative industries and practitioners working toward education in the arts.We have already discussed opportunities in this building with various artist groups and artists in the community, to increase education workshops and programmes, with a major focus on opportunities for young persons and disadvantaged groups.
To make this possible TAO Nottingham would like to thank the many volunteers who have helped with this project and the recent inclusion of Nottingham Probation Service. |
11-13 live space a
meeting place, This former nightclub has the potential to support the increasing demand for arts related classes and workshops, more exhibition space, and selected live events and performance, rehearsals and music. With the aid of volunteers we have gutted the ground floor and the basement and will be working with Community Service to re-plaster and decorate, whilst developing a workforce to clear the upper floors of vandalised debris, and decay.

19 recycle centre bring
your unwanted items and take away goods you might need. Work has begun, with the help of volunteers and members keen to support the regeneration of these disused properties. During its vacant period, this building has suffered under the hands of vandals and thieves, who have broke in repeatedly to cause destruction and disrepair and our work will be cut out to bring it back to use. Our first target was to clear all the broken and destroyed fittings and rubble - obviously recycling wherever possible and minimilising any potential waste, trying to make use of anything and everything we need to remove. We fenced off the rear yard, and fitted bars in the windows, allowing us to remove the boards from the windows and let light and air into the space, in an attempt to dry out the building after 12 years of seclusion. |
21 gallery and teabar Exhibitions,
This first venue, opening in January 2007, was an adventurous step toward creating a sustained project, offering opportunity for the introduction of the arts to the community, education in the arts; classes, workshops, artist studios, with the opportunity for arts-related events, exhibitions and the promotion of local and national artists and their artwork. There are also facilities for traditional darkroom printing, photography, screen printing, textiles and sewing. The gallery has a teabar offering a wide range of world teas and herbal infusions, coffee and hot chocolate, selective cold drinks and cakes, and a fayre of community arts and crafts for sale. We now have a supply of arts materials for sale in our new gallery shop. This open gallery and teabar is situated at 21 Station Street, in Nottingham’s city centre, facing the north side of the train station, and adjacent to the southern tram stop and Nottingham canal. Based in the former Hopkinson’s Hardware Store, a significant business in Nottingham’s retail history, the premise had stood empty for several years, and was reflective of many buildings in the direct area. |
